Mission of the Club

The Windhoek City Runners Club (WCRC) was established with the mission to promote and develop Athletics (Running), at both competitive and social levels. It also aims to encourage and support  a broad based community of people focused on the development of a healthy lifestyle through the medium of running/walking , regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

Our Objectives

  • To develop and foster the interest, and participation in Athletics amongst its members and the community.

  • To encourage its members to participate in Athletics at all possible levels.

  • To represent the interests of its members at all possible Athletic levels.

  • To provide coaching and facilities, to enable members to participate at all levels in Athletics.

  • To assist its members to develop healthy lifestyles, and fulfil their Athletic potentials through proven, well structured and well implemented training programs.

  • To provide cohesion in the club's community, by developing and maintaining platforms for social interaction among its members.

  • To provide information on nutrition, weight management, and other health- related matters in support of the enhancement of its member's quality of life.

  • To provide services to all its members in a way that is fair to everyone regardless of ability, race, color, ethnicity, or creed.

The great Tata Nelson Mandela once said " Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite the people in a way that little else does. It speaks to the youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than Governments in breaking down racial barriers".

It is some of this great words upon which Windhoek City Runners club's foundation is build on. To inspire, to unite, and to create hope to our society.
